About Marita:
In July 2017, Marita was named the President of MyMichigan Health Medical Centers - Gratiot and Mt. Pleasant. In January 2020 her role expanded to Central Region President, incorporating the medical center in Clare.
A native of Spring Lake, Mich., Hattem holds a master's degree in business administration from the University of St. Francis in Ft. Wayne, Ind., and a bachelor's degree in psychology with honors from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant.
She joined MyMichigan Health from Wausau, Wis., where she had a wide range of responsibilities. She served as the chief experience officer of Connexus Credit Union for two and a half years before joining MyMichigan Health. Prior to that she was with the Aspirus health system, also in Wausau, where she held positions of increasing scope and responsibility from vice president of physician support services to interim president and chief operating officer of the Aspirus Wausau Hospital and finally senior vice president of provider relations and service lines for Aspirus, Inc.
A Fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives, Hattem-Schiffman also holds a Certification in Professional Medical Services Management. In addition, she is a registered yoga teacher.
Marita is married to Randy Schiffman and has two rescue dogs. She believes strongly in community service and has been active with organizations such as the United Way, Boy Scouts, and YWCA for over 30 years. She serves on the boards of United Way of Gratiot & Isabella Counties, Middle Michigan Development Corp., and Greater Gratiot Development Inc. She also serves on the Michigan Health & Hospital Association Service Center Board American Hospital Association's Regional Policy Board (region 6), and Michigan's Citizens Research Council.
