Part-Time Childcare Coalition Coordinator
Position Description:
Middle Michigan Development Corporation (MMDC) is seeking a dynamic and strategic Childcare Coordinator to lead efforts to expand and strengthen the region's current childcare coalition (Arenac, Bay, Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Isabella, Midland, Osceola, and Saginaw). This position is responsible for coordinating regional childcare efforts, attending regional meetings, advocating and supporting our region's childcare businesses.
The ideal candidate is passionate about economic growth, highly skilled in relationship building, and motivated to make a lasting impact through proactive engagement with private and public sector stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the regional childcare coalition meetings and be the primary contact for the regional childcare coalition.
- Maintain and oversee communication with the executive coalition team and sub-contractors who assist with the coordination of the overall program.
- Respond to childcare providers who need assistance and be able to assist them in making connections.
- Develop and manage a strong coalition membership team with support from MMDC, Saginaw Future, Inc. and partners.
- Build and maintain relationships with regional and state partners.
- Coordinate marketing initiatives, branding campaigns, and promotional materials that showcase regional assets to external audiences.
- Provide data and insight to MMDC and Saginaw Future teams and partners regarding childcare trends and regional competitive advantages.
- Assist with grant writing, incentive program navigation, and other funding efforts to support childcare as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Desired Attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree in economic development, marketing, business administration, communication, education, childcare/development, social work, or a related field.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and multi-stakeholder collaborations.
- Highly developed communication, negotiation, and public speaking skills.
- Strong data analysis and research capabilities.
- Willingness to travel regionally and occasionally for overnight trips.
- Ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with businesses, investors, and government partners.
- A “get to yes” approach and strong commitment to professional excellence.
- Must be a team player and champion of inclusive, community-driven economic growth.
