Recognizing Entrepreneurial Excellence During Women’s History Month

by Caroline Roberts on March 31, 2025

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we take this opportunity to recognize the outstanding contributions of women entrepreneurs who enrich our communities through innovation and dedication. One such individual is June-Marie Esser, owner of Juneberry Cottage in downtown Evart.

June-Marie’s vision and creativity have made her quilting store a cornerstone of the local business district. As an anchor tenant, she has played a pivotal role in strengthening the downtown economy, and her impact is regularly highlighted through Michigan Main Street for the value she brings to the community.

Beyond her own business, June-Marie has been instrumental in promoting downtown Evart by facilitating bus tours, encouraging visitors to experience all that the area has to offer. Her entrepreneurial efforts were recognized with a Match on Main grant, allowing her to introduce a new line of sewing machines—a first for the region, with no comparable offerings within a 90 mile radius.

June-Marie’s dedication to her craft, her business, and her community exemplifies the leadership and innovation that Women’s History Month seeks to honor. We are proud to recognize her contributions and celebrate her continued success.

Join us in applauding June-Marie and the countless women entrepreneurs who shape our communities.
