Middle Michigan Development Corporation (MMDC) is proud to announce that it has been selected as a recipient of the Trusted Connector Grant by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC). MMDC is one of only 23 organizations across the state awarded this funding, which supports organizations strengthening Michigan’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
With the $310,848 grant, MMDC will expand their Middle Michigan Place-Based Business Initiative to serve entrepreneurs and under-resourced businesses across Clare, Isabella, and Osceola counties. This initiative will feature:
-
Monthly Business Mixers providing peer networking and access to subject-matter experts
-
A Business & Start-Up Summit in Mt. Pleasant
-
A Film Readiness Initiative to position Middle Michigan as a filming destination
-
Matching facade improvement and technology upgrade grants to enhance downtown businesses
“This investment allows us to dramatically increase our support for local entrepreneurs, especially in rural communities where resources are often limited,” said Kati Mora, President and CEO of MMDC. “We are grateful to MEDC for recognizing the important role place-based businesses play in building vibrant and resilient communities.”
The initiative is expected to support area place-based businesses and create new economic opportunities across the region. MMDC will also collaborate with local universities, chambers, and development partners to increase access to capital, business mentorship, and innovative tools that help entrepreneurs thrive.
